Raiffeisen Bank Romania continues to invest in the professional development of teachers in the field of environmental education
In the 2021-2022 school year, more than 7,000 teachers participated online in the training sessions within the „Romania de poveste” project, which OvidiuRO Association runs in partnership with the Learning by Teaching Association, supported by Raiffeisen Bank Romania.
Due to the success recorded among the teachers, the project continues in the 2022-2023 school year, so that we can reach as many children as possible in the preschool education system with information relevant to their age, but also with didactic materials that make ecological education easily understandable.
The official launch of the 2022-2023 edition of the Romania de Poveste project took place on October 27, 2022, on the Facebook page of the OvidiuRO Association. The discussion theme revolved around the Black Sea, in celebration of the International Black Sea Day on October 31st.
“During the first 5 years of life, the child’s brain develops by 90%, so it is essential to be exposed to quality and diverse learning experiences during this time window. At the same time, STEAM activities – science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, help to lay the cognitive and emotional foundations of the future adult”
MARIA GHEORGHIU,
CO-FOUNDER OVIDIURO ASSOCIATION
“We are happy to continue the „Romania de poveste” project together with OvidiuRO and thousands of teachers from all over the country. Together we want to provide access to quality early education for as many children as possible and lay the foundations for responsible behavior toward the Planet’s resources, from an early age. We aim, through this program, to support teachers and provide them with the resources to help children learn and protect the natural environment, and afterward, when they become adults, to be able to use the filter of sustainability and care for the environment in their life choices”,
Ana Nilă, SENIOR SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST Raiffeisen Bank RomAnia.
The project benefited from the expertise and support of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest (USAMV), the Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR), a non-profit organization committed to protecting birds and nature, and the SNK Association, an NGO focused on eco-education.
Thanks to Raiffeisen Bank’s contribution, in September 2021, over 3,000 kindergartens in Romania received two illustrated books – “My Tree” and “Bruno,” suitable for STEAM activities. Subsequently, in April 2022, over 1,000 teachers received an educational kit that included 2 magnifying glasses, 5 types of wall charts, 2 monthly calendar templates for children’s morning activities, a board game about eco-habits, the book “Tom, the Ecologist,” and 20 maps of Romania’s fauna and flora, along with 20 pipettes for scientific experiments for each child in the classes of these teachers.
Since 2007, Raiffeisen Bank Romania has supported the literacy programs of the OvidiuRO Association, consistently aiding their efforts to provide all children with access to quality early education. Since 2018, the two partners have developed and implemented the “Povești sub Lupă” (Stories under the Magnifying Glass) project, where over 20,000 preschoolers have participated in STEAM activities under the guidance of over 3,500 teachers. “România de Poveste” represents the expansion and continuation of the “Povești sub Lupă” project.
