City hall hires its first health mediator

Eight months later , Nicoleta from Intorsura Buzaului is the first one to be employed by a local community. We hope that starting January 2014 Gabriela from Hetea will also be hired.

Nicoleta is 22 and the mother of a three year old girl. She is the only female from her village of Floroaia Mica, who had the educational qualification (10th grade ) required of health mediators.

50 children from Araci Village, Covasna County are having fun and learning interesting things within the Atelierele de Vara Sotron, organized by Asociatia OvidiuRo, with the support of the GlaxoSmithKline company.
For about 2 weeks, the children have learned a lot of new things about the human body, how important it is to eat healthy and to practice physical exercises with regularity.

The children embark on a 13-day trip and learn about their body, discover the benefits of healthy food and the importance of playing sports. They recap numbers and letters through writing exercises and applications play games and explore the surroundings in order to get ready for success in school. During this journey, the teachers serve as guides and the workbook “Good morning, children!” becomes the children’s best companion. Kids are encouraged to ask questions and find answers, to explore and discover, to be creative and act as team players.

Six counties are seriously considering including the food coupon program in their budgets: Sibiu, Covasna, Brasov, Cluj, Bacau, and Vaslui. ProTV: 74 children and 7 sponsors for a new kindergarten, October 31, 2012

OvidiuRo’s role in rebuilding the Gura Sutii kindergarten made national ProTV news last night. When it was clear last year that the local authorities didn’t have the resources to expand and renovate the dilapidated kindergarten, OvR obtained the help of GDF Suez, Energy Assistance, Distrigaz Confort, Dedeman, Holcim and Lafarge — so that 74 impoverished Dambovita children can attend ‘gradinita’.

86% of our kids showed up EVERY day in March

1196 of the 1400 severely impoverished children in OvR’s program qualified for food coupons because they attended preschool every day. OvidiuRo gives 12 euros worth of coupons per month to encourage poor parents to send their children to preschool and kindergarten regularly. Thus, €14,352 worth of food was provided to needy families in March – thanks to OvR’s donors.
