Our gamble to forego the traditional “Live Auction” in favor of Community Actions paid off. Four companies each committed to Adopt a School: Carrefour, E.on, Oracle, and Prospectiuni. Three companies committed to sponsoring Summer Schools: Petrom (for four summer schools), Raiffeisen, and Rosia Montana Gold Corporation. Over 100 guests made a donation of 50 euro or more to help a child succeed in school.

Other achievements of which we are also proud:

Helping a seven year old girl in an Ilfov village to enroll in school – after the principal had rejected her mother’s application, two years in a row, on the grounds that the first grade class could not hold more than 20 children. (This was not a community in which we normally operate, but our experienced staff was able to intervene quickly and effectively as a result of their familiarity with the laws and system.)
